Trust in science is falling in the US and social media makes bad science more visible than ever. One surprising yet effective strategy to teach critical thinking about science is to have students create and analyze their own bad science. This talk will first review some of the hilarious results of this pedagogic strategy then seek to explain the underlying motivations driving science cynicism.

A talk for Freethought Arizona; the event is free and open to the public, although donations are appreciated.
