NCSE's Lin Andrews comments on climate change professional development

NCSE leading a professional learning opportunity for teachers.

Lin Andrews, the director of NCSE's Supporting Teachers program, was featured in a recent Education Week story (May 16, 2023) about efforts to bring teachers up to speed on climate change through professional development, focusing on Community Consolidated School District 93 in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

Andrews praised the district's yearlong professional development program as "phenomenal," but warned that follow-up would be necessary. "Any one-and-done PD is not going to cause effective change," she explained. "You need to develop a community of practice where they can return to the subject multiple times over multiple years."
