Climate Change in the American Mind: October 2015 cover

Two in three Americans think that global warming is happening, and about half think that, if it is happening, it is mostly owing to human activity, but only about one in ten know that nearly all climate scientists agree that global warming is happening as a result of human activity. Those were among the key findings of Climate Change in the American Mind: October 2015 (PDF).

Expertise rejected in Texas

At its meeting on November 18, 2015, the Texas state board of education voted 8-7 to reject a proposal to add "a state review panel that could include college and university scholars assigned specifically to look for factual errors" in textbooks submitted for adoption in Texas, according to the Austin American-Statesman (November 18, 2015).

The physicist and science education activist Marshall Berman died on October 25, 2015, at the age of 76, according to a November 8, 2015, obituary from the Coalition for Excellence in Science and Math Education (CESE) in New Mexico.
